4 Hacks for Effective Goal Setting
Heyy Fulfilled Femme,
I hope you are having a great holiday season!
Can you believe 2024 is a week away? 2023 flew by, didn't it?
How many times has January 1st come around, and you scramble to set your goals to start the year off strong, and then feel so exhausted from the holidays that it takes you a while to take the first steps?
Rather than waiting until the new year, I propose setting your goals now!
This is the perfect time to step back, evaluate where you’ve been this year, and reflect on the goals you want to set for the new year.
Reflect on the biggest wins, lessons, which yearly goals I achieved, and why others didn't.
It’s time to create your own momentum to ride right on through into the new year.
There are so many hacks for goal setting that are spoken about in the personal development space. As with anything, take what resonates and leave the rest.
It's also important to understand how you set goals from one year to the next may look different. Take time to tune inwards and truly feel what feels best for you at this moment in time.
Here are some hacks that hold true for me at this moment in time.
Hacks for Effective Goal Setting:
1. Align your goals with your present values
In order to set your goals up for success, you need them to be grounded in where you’re at right now.
When setting your goals, be honest about what you value right now. This is about you and is most important to you in the present moment. Since we are evolving beings experiencing life we evolve constantly. What may be most important in one year might not hold true in the next.
For example, if health is most important to you, setting into your soul’s purpose, or personally developing yourself, or spending more time with your family, set your goal in alignment with that.
If you set goals that are misaligned, just because everyone’s talking about it and sounds great (but not what you’re actually LIVING), your chances of success will significantly decrease.
The degree of focus, passion, and motivation to achieve your goals won't be there if it's not related to what's of the highest priority for you.
2. Make simple, vision based goals
Create goals that are based in reality, and have achievable measures, so that when you read them back they feel attainable to you, and make you feel good.
⚡ Do you have a weight you want to reach lifting at the gym?
⚡ Do you want to reach a certain monthly income in your business?
⚡ Do you want to sign on a certain number of clients?
Keep your goals grounded so you feel like you can reach out and accomplish them.
Dreaming big is great! But when setting goals, you want to avoid creating goals that feel too big and daunting that doubt might creep in and keep you from succeeding.
For example, saying you want to have _ enrolled clients by the end of the year.
You would like to take a certain amount of steps in a day.
You would like to go to sleep and wake up specific times.
As long as it feels doable, simple, and exciting... go for it.
3. Write your goals as affirmations and recite them daily.
When you write your goals as affirmations in the present tense, you are taking the first, most important step into living an achievable goal.
When writing them as affirmations write them in the present state by using words like I am or I have.
For example, I have $10,000 in my bank account, I have a beachfront home, I am a confident entrepreneur.
You are telling your subconscious and the universe that you already KNOW this goal is possible. It merges the goal with the current reality.
I have my yearly goals written in a notebook I write my weekly to-do lists.
Every day I recite the goals as affirmations in the present tense as it makes me feel like they are already done and helps me remain focused on achieving them.
4. Have a visual depiction of your goals that you can connect with daily.
I am excited to talk about some marvelous ways to connect with your goals visually.
Vision boards, writing out your goals as an ideal day, or having your written affirmations in a visible place are all wonderful ways to visually represent your goals.
There is a reason vision boards are talked about so much this time of year. They are a visual image of your goals that help you connect and be one with your intentions.
Vision boards and the other tools I shared above help you use the Law of Attraction to be a magnetic match for your goals.
If you are wanting to learn how to make a vision board, check out these blog posts I have written about them.
Are you going to wait until Jan 1st, or will you start now, and be already set up for success the second the clock strikes midnight?
Remember to create the most effective and achievable goals, align with your values right now, be simple and vision-based, and write your goals in a present tense affirmation format.
I would love to keep the momentum flowing! Write in the comments of this blog one thing you want to achieve in the new year, and keep speaking it into existence.
